What is it?

Well you have heard of naughts and crosses, here is something new. Eggs and Crosses is a family-based activity aimed to make Easter fun, despite the pandemic lock downs facing neighbourhoods.

With the cultural habits of church Easter children’s activity mornings and Easter egg hunts now restricted to online solutions, there is some wiggle space.

  1. If you are socially isolating, get cracking on with drawing and placing your Eggs and Crosses pictures in the front of your homes.

  2. If you are healthy and allowed to go on a walk, go with your family to hunt for Eggs and Crosses.

  3. Take pictures and share with your friends and family (don’t forget to Tag us)

Why mash it up?

Easter is the Christian festival remembering the death of Jesus Christ and celebrating Him coming back to life – giving all humankind the right to eternal life (John 3:16, Romans 10:9).

As you can imagine, there is a lot of symbolism.

  • Crosses to remember His death (Good Friday)

  • Eggs to remember there is a new & thriving life that we can get because of His coming back to life (Easter Sunday)

So with that, it makes total sense to have BOTH symbols connected together.

What has this got to do with City Vision?

City Vision is a ministry that follows His vision. God has a vision of how He intended a City to thrive - enabling all people to love Him and love one another (Mark 12:30-31) in all strata of society through words and deeds.

Eggs and Crosses is a simple way of helping people to start along this path and to exercise a muscle of looking beyond the traditional ways of sharing their faith.

Christ said that He came to give us a life that is bigger than we can have (John 10:10). He also said to His followers to share their faith (Matthew 28:16-20) and that they are called to live in grace and humility (Colossians 3:12).

Eggs and Crosses does all of this. It’s a witness to say we are Christian, we have a reason to celebrate our faith, but we won’t force it on anyone.

Instead, it invites people to have conversations (1 Peter 3:15).

God - Beyond a Caricature

For some bizarre reason some people have a warped idea of who God and Jesus are. With that, we thought it would be a good idea to offer a link to some helpful resources that help to explain who He really is - https://www.easterhope.org.uk/ and this video:
